VG Pocket Caplet VG-4003 Review:

I was really surprised by how fun this thing is to play. There are a few lame games, but most of the ones on this unit are fun to play. It's a great handheld system for people with a short attention span and a fondness for arcade games. This handheld has a 16-bit processor and the graphic capabilties are far beyond others in this price range. The LCD has a better look than the original Nintendo DS, but it is a little smaller. You can barely make out the individual pixels. This handheld is definitley an awesome buy at $30. It's available in four different colors at GameStop/EBgames, Circuit City, and Toys R Us.

The VGpocket VG-4003

The VG Pocket Caplet was created by Performance Designed Products and Pelican Products. The Caplet comes in four colors; blue, silver, red, orange. Has a very bright 2.5” backlit 960 x 240 TFT display. Graphics are quite an improvement over those of the earlier models of the VG Pocket. The unit is powered by 3 AAA batteries. Comes with 50 built-in games which includes 3 licensed through Taito: “Space Invaders,” “Bust-A-Move,” and “Burger Time.” The unit has the capability of being displayed on any TV set with the purchase of a separate “starter kit” that includes a storage carrying case and special AV cables unique to the system.

Games on the Caplet include- Space Invaders, Bust-a-move, BurgerTime, Sudoku Quiz, Boxboy, Adventures of Valdog, Deep Storm, Bubble Wubble, Final Escape, Wolfy's Quest, Legendary Hero, Craig the Caterpillar, Crystal Cavern, Final Round Tennis!, Magic Jelly, Blazebusters, Rotating Puzzle, Underwater Pinball, Bubble Blaster, Greedy Grabber, Puzzle Chance, Victory Road, Jet Racing, Yummy and Tasty, Code Name: PLUMBER, Hanoi Tower, Leapfrog, Win or Lose, Pop goes the Ball!, Kart Racer X, Battle Blocks II, Switch and Mix, Survival Challenge, Go Back Home!, Motojet Mania, Tiger Rescue, BIlliards Master, Mr. Onion, Wacky Racing, Tennis Caddie, Blaze of Glory, Underwater Memory, Crane Maniac, Go Bang, Jewel Master 2, Smashing Ladybugs, Submarine, Slot Machine, Video Poker, Black Jack There are no save features for high scores or game progress. (thanks wikipedia)

The games play really well and the handhled loads the menu and games nearly instantly. If someone figures out how to hack this unit and add some more ROMs, this thing would really rock. I took some photos of the games playing on the units built-in LCD.

Here's some of the screenshots I took with a camera:
